On many occasions, my thoughts start wandering and I end up feeling completely drained. This is happened over a lovely long weekend when my thoughts began drifting towards workload, pay scale, traffic jams, public transport, household expenses, and even the Ladki Beheni Yojana . These thoughts made me feel disappointed. So, I smartly redirected them to school fees, vacation expenses, dining bills, and the never-ending shopping sprints. Well, this didn’t help either, in fact it made me feel helpless. Generally, at peak of my helplessness, frustration, exhaustion my higher-self intervenes, guiding me through, with some easy tricks. This time, it nudged me toward binge-watching a thriller web series. Now, here I am lying on my sofa, watching one episode after another, spending hours in front of the TV. 11 July may not seem to be a well-known or widely celebrated day. But its importance cannot be ignored. Population – the count of the number of humans on planet Earth. Our Home! Add life to your days and not days to your life. The statement might sound simple at first only to realise how profound it is, on a second thought.  Adding life to days, each day, come what may? Really? The fact is it isn’t that surreal or impossible; each one of us has been there, gone through, the best and the worst.   As we grow up (& old), become wiser than yesterday, accept more responsibilities and perform higher duties, adding life to days becomes difficult.  Remember those carefree days, when we were in school laughing at silly jokes, playing pranks, actually laughing out loud (yes lol), being punished; yet we were adding life to our days with ease. Someone special brings a smile to my face, tears in my eyes, fills my heart with joy and casts away my fears. Sounds like a dream? Sweet 16 talk? Or a scene from a romantic movie.  A couple of days ago my mother was remembering her mother. She shared a number of instances bringing alive the era of the early 90s. Back then the number of siblings was never less than two. In some cases, they would be in double digits. More than nine kids around? A word best describes the scene at home – Chaos. Or complete chaos? Imagine the youngest crying for food and eldest pleading for sound sleep. The relation of the eldest with the youngest. The varied activities of every child - one crawling or trying to walk, another in school and the eldest preparing for higher studies. The early 90s as a parent seems mind-boggling. Though the culture of joint family prevailed it seems there was never an end to raising kids. As in the case of my grandparents, they had eight children, yes eight! By the time their youngest became a toddler the eldest became a parent. Which was then followed by the rest of their children. My grandmom after raising her kids raised her grandchildren. B...
