  1. MILK: Essential food item to many esp. kids. One way to store milk is to place it in the freezer and use it as per the requirement. But, we might not have enough space in the freezer during difficult times (lockdown). A better and easy way to store milk in beverage bottles. Bottles can be stored vertically and at the same time can be stacked one above the other. this hack not only creates more space in the refrigerator but also makes it easy to use.
  2. LEMON: A rich source of vitamin C, the immunity booster. Lemons are best stored in a plastic airtight bag. To ensure that every lemon has extended shelf-life, pack them individually in airtight bags. Zip locks may not be available with you. In that case, make use of grocery plastic bags. With the help of a candle and knife, you can compartmentalize one bag into a number of airtight sections. Ref. Fig.2

  3. CHILLI/MIRCHI: Indian recipes extensively make use of chillies in varied dishes. Chillies can be easily stored in the refrigerator after following a small procedure. Prior to clean the chillies, pat them dry, remove the stem, wrap them in a newspaper and place inside the refrigerator. DONE! Chillies will remain fresh for weeks.

  4. TOMATOES: Certainly a must in Indian kitchens. Store them in the freezer after following a small procedure. Clean the tomatoes in running water, remove the base of stem portion (calyx), place it in an airtight container or a bag. Tomatoes are ready to be stored in the freezer.
  5. DRUMSTICKS/SHENG: Drumsticks have numerous health benefits. If you love them, then store them well. After a thorough wash, pat them dry, remove skin and cut them into pieces. Place the cut pieces in a plastic bag. Do not forget to seal the bag. You may use a peg, clip, rubber band or a candle. No need to freeze drumsticks.
